How to Choose Your Happiness First

Life is not easy. It’s hard, in fact, and sometimes it can be downright painful. When you are going through a difficult time, it’s important to remember that no matter what is happening in your life right now, you have a choice about how you react to it. You can choose happiness!


Your happiness is a choice and so it is time to choose it!


So how do you choose happiness first?

First, you have to understand what your happiness looks like. What do you need to be happy?

Second, set an intention for yourself. An intention is a conscious decision that helps guide your actions and choices throughout the course of your day or week. This means setting goals, making plans and taking action on those plans in order to achieve them!

Thirdly, have faith that it’s possible for you to achieve whatever it is that will make you happy! Trust yourself and let go of doubt because when we doubt ourselves we tend not only to keep ourselves from reaching our goals but also from allowing others who support our move forward with their own lives as well.


Stop living in the past.


You can decide to stop living in the past. If a person or an event from your past is preventing you from being happy, then it's time to let go of them. You are not a victim of what they did or didn't do. You are not defined by the successes and failures of others, nor do those things determine who you will be today or tomorrow.

Stop letting people who don't matter to you control your life. People who don't appreciate you for who you are and what you have done with your life should not be allowed into your headspace unless they are willing to acknowledge this fact and make amends for any wrongdoings committed against yourself

or others. If they don't, then they are just leeches who are trying to suck you dry of your energy and goodwill.


Stop letting fear control you.


Fear is one of the most common emotions that hold us back from living a happy life. We let fear stop us from doing what we love, taking risks, and pursuing our dreams. When you're afraid, it's time to face your fears head-on and tackle them with courage!

If you have a fear of heights, start small by going up in the tallest building or tower nearby and working your way up from there. If you're scared of flying in planes, take lessons with an instructor until it feels safe enough for you to fly solo! Whatever it may be - whether it's spiders or water slides - facing your fears will help empower you to live a happier life full of adventure.


Stop settling for less than you deserve.


If you're focusing on what you don't want, you're going to be miserable. For example:

  • If you are in a relationship with someone who has a terrible temper and is abusive, but they have the best job in town and make six figures a year... instead of focusing on your discomfort with this situation (which is perfectly normal), focus on what it means that they can treat others poorly and support their family.

  • If you hate your job because all of the people around are condescending jerks, but it pays well enough for two cars in the driveway... instead of focusing on how much more miserable than everyone else's life looks from where you sit (and yes, some people do live like that), focus on how lucky those other people are not only to have money but also to spend their days doing something they love.


I know this is a lot to take in, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. When you make the decision to live your best life, it becomes easier and easier with time. By focusing on what brings you joy, sharing that joy with others, and making sure there are no regrets when you look back on your life – these are things we all can learn from each other as we go through life together!
